Entertainment Journalist Carrie Mahone has New Show "Carrie's Countdown" on CopyWrite Magazine to Highlight Milwaukee's Top Music Videos
There’s a new show about to hit the streets of Milwaukee and it will highlight Milwaukee’s music scene. CopyWrite Magazine’s Entertainment Journalist Carrie Mahone recently dropped a promo video for her new show, “Carrie’s Countdown” that will feature the top Milwaukee music videos.
Carrie’s Countdown is now accepting submissions for its first episode on June 7, 2020. Submissions end May 24, 2020, then the voting round will open up. Once all the submissions are in, Mahone will have a voting poll on CopyWrite Magazine’s website, where the show will also be hosted, for viewers to vote for their favorite videos. The top five music videos with the most votes will then air on Carrie’s Countdown.
Mahone plans on releasing two shows every first and third Sunday of each month.
“I’m trying to bring entertainment style things to Milwaukee,” Mahone said about creating Carries’s Countdown.
Growing up, Mahone loved the popular and culture-moving hit TV show “106 & Park”. According to Mahone, this was the show that got her interested in entertainment journalism, but she thought that she could only snag her dream job in places like New York or LA. But, now Mahone see’s she can accomplish her dreams in Milwaukee.
“Why not try to create the show for myself here?” Mahone asked. “You can still do the things that you want to do here.”
“You have the power to create your own opportunities wherever you are,” she added.
Carrie’s Countdown is accepting all genres of music and doesn’t plan on censoring people’s content. As of right now, the show is strictly for artists in the Milwaukee county, but Mahone’s open to allowing artists from different states to submit music.
“I’m very open to things changing as things go on,” Mahone said.
Mahone had the idea for Carrie’s Countdown back in Dec 2019 when she pitched it to CopyWrite Founder Lexi Brunson. For a while, Mahone was skeptical about announcing and going forth with her idea because she didn’t think others would latch on to the idea.
Once she got out of her own head and remembered what she was doing it for, Mahone’s idea is finally coming to life.
“I hope this show is the spark for people to realize they don’t always have to move away to follow their dreams. Do what you can with what you have because the more we bring opportunities to our community [and] ourselves, that’s when the constant negative narrative about our city changes,” Mahone said.
