How Two Entrepreneurs Use Live-Video to Inspire and Promote their Business
It was all good just a few weeks ago. We were carelessly living our lives not thinking about the simple joys of life, such as in-person interaction. Now that most of the world is on “stay-at-home” order, we’re starting to realize how much all of those things really mean to us.
As the different days of the week turn into one big day, entrepreneurs around the world have been using social media to be a beacon of light, while promoting their business. Alice Gilliam, aka DJ Gemini Gilly, and Christopher Cooper, co-founder of ACJ Fitness, have been using live-videos to entertain and grow their business.

Gilliam and Cooper have been using social media to stay relevant, while helping others whether that‘s physically, mentally or both.
As a full-time social worker, Gilliam is one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who is now working from home. Along with getting her day-job work done, Gilliam has been putting her DJing at the forefront through live-video on Facebook and Twitter.
“I never would’ve thought the world would take a hit like this,” Gilliam said.
Before the virus, Gilliam had a gig every weekend from January through March. Instead of being down about the lost experience and work, she’s been making mixes and sharing them with the world through social media.
“I try to make sure that everybody has a good time,” she said. “I’m definitely trying to use this time to build the moral around me.”
Unlike Gilliam, Cooper’s main income comes from his entrepreneurship as an owner of a fitness company. As a certified personal trainer, most of Cooper’s business comes from face-to-face interaction. Although business has slowed down for Cooper, he’s been consistently providing free workouts to the public.
For Cooper, he’s focused on building up trust and credibility through his live-video workouts.

“I’ve always wanted people to be able to come to me for fitness,” Cooper said. “It’s a way to keep the progression going.”
Due to his sport’s background, Cooper is focused on helping athletes achieve their next level of fitness. But, through his workouts of the day, he’s broadening his reach.
“I’ve learned to be adaptable and selfless,” he said.
Inspired by her love of music, Gilliam began self-teaching herself the art of Djing back in 2018. It wasn’t until Sept. of 2019 that she started doing paid gigs.
Gilliam does admit that she was nervous at first to DJ live, but she’s glad she took the leap. According to Gilliam, she wants to “boost spirits”.
“I love curating stuff for other people so they can have a good time,” she said."
While we sit at home, Gilliam and Cooper will be using their skills to motivate and inspire whoever’s willing to watch.
