PaperStacks Talks about Relationship in Latest Album "Lil Sum Sum"
PaperStacks dropped his album “Lil Sum Sum” which displays an alternative side to his usual ego. Instead of just rapping about material flashy things, PaperStacks opened up his heart. The 14-track album starts with some hard hitter, turn up music, but soon turns into a story about a rocky love relationship.
It took about two years to complete this album because PaperStacks was writing songs throughout his past relationship. Him and his ex dated for a year and six months the second time, and dated for a full year when he was 19 years old.

PaperStacks last project was for his fans, but this was one for him. He said he wasn’t expecting much from this album, so whatever comes, comes.
This was PaperStacks second time being in love and he had to use his craft to reflect on it.
“It needed to be spoken in a stand point from me [because] being in love is huge,” said PaperStacks.
After about four months, PaperStacks began to feel like himself again. Thanks to his close friend and local artist Mo’City, PaperStacks was able to cope with having a broken heart. Mo’City would hang with PaperStacks, watch Youtube videos and listen to music to ease his pain.
Before the relief, PaperStacks found himself checking for his ex whenever he went out when they first broke up. Now, he’s comfortable doing things he used to do with her, alone or with others.
“I feel good,” he said. “I wake up and go about my day.”
According to PaperStacks, he’s never made music where he was vulnerable and it was a hard task, but not an impossible one.
The actual story begins on track 5, “Good Good”. This song is about meeting someone and getting to know them. It’s also about a woman saying she has that good good and the guy saying, “well show me.” Track 6, “Wrong Ones” is about pulling the girl but not actually being in a real relationship. It’s like a situationship because you’re still dealing with others, but thinking about making that one, the real one. Track 7, “Fallen” is about falling in love with someone. Track 8, “Palm Trees” is about the love PaperStacks felt while falling in love, but then problems starting to occur. So, he thought by going on vacation that would solve all of their problems. Track 9, “Marie” is an interlude that is named after his ex’s middle name. It’s mainly just a bridge and a hook, but you can hear the hurt in the lyrics. This song is about seeing the things you don’t like in the one you love and deciding whether you want to say or leave. Track 10, “Lil Sum” is about when a person is confident in the relationship ending, that feeling that, “I don’t need you.” Track 11, “Fallen Pt 2” is about falling out of love and no longer being confident in the relationship ending. Track 12, “New-New Jacket” is more of a flex song. PaperStacks is usually seen wearing a jacket, so by saying he has a new new jacket, he has a new new confidence because he’s finally starting to move on. Track 13, “Whatchu Tryna Do” was originally meant to go at the beginning of the album with the other turn up songs, but was decided to be put later in the album. It gets emotional and discusses how he’s moved on to other things in life. And lastly, track 14, “Due Time” is PaperStacks reflecting on himself and doing things without her.
PaperStacks says he’s not the most lyrical artists, but this album shows his creative and emotional side.
“I think it’s easier to be real in music now,” said PaperStacks.
