After her fashion line Uncommon James, reality star Kristin Cavallari launched Uncommon Beauty due to the high demand.

“People were always asking me what my skincare routine was,” Cavallari said. “I know people will invest in skincare products that are clean and cruelty-free.”

Uncommon Beauty includes five products that are the base of her skincare line: Daily Foaming Powder Cleanser, the Pineapple Peptide Nectar, a Daily Water Cream, a Triple Effect Eye Cream, and the Mango Lip Balm.

Cavallari said that she encountered a lot of challenges when launching her beauty brand, yet her first business taught her a lot. She first launched the brand Emerald Duv with a friend, which ended with her leaving the company. She said that the business blew up in her face and that she wanted to prove that she knew what she was doing in the fashion industry.

“I did not know the industry,” she admitted. “When I launched my first business, I wanted to do something fun. So I launched Uncommon James in four months. Now, more people are looking at me. This time, I took my time and I tested these products for months before launching the second business.”

Although she launched the business in May of this year, Uncommon Beauty is still finding its footing in the beauty industry. Cavallari wanted to invest into quality products for her business even though it costs more – she said her clients needed to have sanitary products to use.

“I’m thankful that I have a fanbase that will invest into what I’m selling,” Cavallari said. “I want to make sure that they buy something of quality from my brands.”

Besides launching Uncommon Beauty, Cavallari is also expanding Uncommon James. She already has store locations in Nashville, Chicago, and recently Dallas. After conducting market research, she wants to expand into Austin and Charleston, which are substantial bachelorette locations.

“Selling our products in Nordstrom gave us credibility,” the beauty entrepreneur said. “Selling in other stores isn’t always the best because they take a lot of money. I wanted to make as much money as I can for my business and be able to invest in myself.”

Cavallari encourages future entrepreneurs to build a team that will help the company grow and be reliable.

“It’s essential to know where your money is going,” she said. “But remember, who’s in it with you now probably won’t be with you in the future.”
