If there’s one thing quarantine gave people during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was time, lots of time. Whether it was hunkering down with family, ZOOM calling for work, or socially distanced conversations with the neighbors, people had a lot of time to pick up new skills. From baking bread and whipping coffee drinks, to home-haircuts and art projects, social media threads were jam-packed with people showing off their new skills.
For Ladii Loyaltii, it was her youngest daughter that sparked her inspiration during quarantine.
“My daughter was like, ‘I like a lot of lip glosses, you know how to make a lot of stuff, you should make some,’” Ladii Loyaltii said. “She’s basically my Mini-Me, so, I did some research and I made the lip glosses.”
She was no stranger to making natural skincare and beauty products from scratch because she had been doing it for most of her life.

Ladii Loyaltii has Eczema and extremely sensitive skin. While products like deodorant, detergent and hand soap work fine for most, it actually tears her skin up.

“You go into a public restroom and they have a regular generic hand soap, I legitimately can’t use it. I started having to carry around my own soap,” she said.
As the hours at her job dwindled during the summer, she stayed positive and started selling her lip glosses called “Seduction by Loyaltii”.
They were a hit.
“The majority of lip glosses in regular beauty stores don’t mix additives in with the base, which is not good because it’s really sticky and tacky,” Ladii Loyaltii said. “Women will say they actually have to pull their lips apart, and I don’t like that.”
Just like her personal lotions and soaps, she kept the lip glosses natural. The difference between her product and the regular beauty stores was that she blended natural additives like sweet almond oils, shea butters and coconut oils into the gloss base.
Though her lip gloss business was growing, Ladii Loyaltii’s day job had finally pulled the plug. So, she decided to take her quarantine side hustle full-time.
“Once the lip gloss did well, I [found] people just like me with different skin conditions like Eczema, Psoriasis, dry and oily skin. So, I did my research for all skin types,” she said.
The Seduction by Loyaltii lip gloss line transcended into a full-on natural skincare and beauty line. She rebranded as “Séduire by Loyaltii”, which is “seduction” in Creole to reflect her family’s New Orleans roots.

Whether it was Charcoal face scrubs, foaming whipped sugar scrubs, body butters or feminine “Yonnie” scrubs, she continued to expand her line.
“We have a three month in-house testing process, where myself, family and friends use the products. If they work well, and there are no side effects or anything like that, we sell them to the public,” Ladii Loyaltii said.
She added that going extra lengths to research and test the products was what set her apart from opening a beauty store and ordering off a vendor list.
“I don’t resell because you never know what those products have in there. I guess it might be because I do have sensitive skin and Eczema myself, but I’d rather know what’s in my products and all natural, instead of all them chemicals and bad stuff in there. It’s a new day in age where people care about what they’re putting in and, on their bodies,” Ladii Loyaltii said.
Along with several pop-up shops, she has recently gotten her line into several spas in the Milwaukee area. She said beauty products were just the start and has big plans for Séduire by Loyaltii
“I’m fully backed by my fiancé and my children, and that’s all I need to stay motivated,” she said.
