Two Milwaukee Creatives Shared their Talents to Create a Fashion Visual about Love During Quarantine
All it took was a Facebook status and about a week’s worth of planning and shooting for creator Tyree Pope and stylist Vato Vergara to create a joint project. Pope has always had an interest in fashion, but he never really mixed his love of visuals with fashion, until now.
Pope wanted to create something eye opening but also something people could connect with, which is why the video is called “Quarantine Vibes”. The video is about two individuals, played by Aleece Jesse and Ohaji Brown, who are in love but weren’t able to see each other because of quarantine. It begins with separate shoots of the two individuals then the video leads up to them meeting at the end.
“It’s an underlying love story,” Pope said. “Those two were separated during quarantine and this is the only time they had.”

Along with a love story, the clothing and accessories are just as an important as the story line. Both Pope and Vergara had been secretly wanting to work with each other, so when this opportunity came about, it was all genuine energy.
“Take the unique style of me and Vato and see how we put it together and made it one,” Pope said.
According to the men, they worked off of each other’s ideas. Pope wanted a New York aesthetic, which involved finding a location that had lots of brick buildings. Vergara not only knew the perfect location, but he already had outfits planned out in his head for the models to wear.
The video took two hours to shoot and was filmed near Pabst and Nō Studios. It was shot outside, but the four weren’t too worried about spreading anything because they kept their distance and didn’t touch each other.

“I always have looks categorized in my head, so when he started talking to me about trench coats, I had them ready,” Vergara said.
Pope didn’t want to let quarantine hinder his ability to create, and according to Vergara, if you’re a creative in your heart then you’re also a rebel.
“Just because it’s quarantine doesn’t mean you can’t do what you love. You can still get things done,” Pope said. “You never know what’s going to happen, so you have to take what you get and keep moving.”
