(Video) Behind the Scenes with Camb

When asked who is Camb, Camb himself had trouble answering that question because he is an artist of many talents—including rapping, singing, producing, songwriting and mixing and mastering. Over the last year, or two, Camb has not only increased the quality of his music, but he’s also helped other artists with their music as well. “Mixed, Mastered by Camb” can be found on many local artists’ tracks, EPs and albums because everyone knows Camb has the ear for music.

A few years back, Camb was working a job where he wasn’t receiving many hours, so he used his downtime learning how to make beats. That dedication improved Camb’s artistry because whenever he can’t find a beat he wants or needs, he creates one for himself.

“I really work as hard as I can and I have no doubts,” Camb said about being a successful artist. “I don’t have nothing else I want to do.”

Camb’s latest music is more upbeat and happier because now he’s actually happy. For a while, Camb was dealing with depression, which showed in his music. Now, with his newest project COOL!, he’s just that, cool and enjoying life.

COOL! was a reintroduction to himself as he moved forward to the next chapter of his life—happiness.

Later this summer, Camb will be dropping another project which will be soon followed by an album. His next project will show “a way more polished Camb.”

When it comes to making beats, Camb’s biggest inspiration is Prince. “I love for my beats to have a bounce to it…need to have that funk,” he said.

Patience and music got Camb through his rough times, he said. His artist side, Camb, was the real inspiration behind his escape from depression. According to Camb—real name Tre—Camb is what Tre wants to be. Through Camb, Tre is able to express himself in ways he wouldn’t otherwise.

“I’m more fun [and] I’m happy now,” he said about the shift in his music. “I’m talking about good things.” He even added that music is easier to make than in past years.

“You have to be patient. Don’t let it hold you down,” Camb said to anyone dealing with depression. “You can’t stop.”
