Young Author Takes Us On A 10-Day Journey Through A Child's Perspective

Everyone’s perspective of life is different and there should be room for us all to share our stories. 11-year-old Mi’Amor Johnson is sharing a child’s perspective through her book “10 Days With Samantha”. Inspired by her cousin Samantha, and her love to read, Johnson takes her readers on a 10-day journey through Samantha’s daily life.

The book explores Samantha’s emotions and learning life lessons through daily interactions and tribulations.

Samantha finds a way to navigate through life while growing at the same time. One day she’s overcoming her fear of watching her twin three-year-old cousins to preparing for her first day of school by herself, and learning the joys of independence.

Johnson writes about things such as feeling safe and happy, or expressing one’s excitement about attending their favorite class in school, or learning about one’s history.

Every day ends with a prayer. One of Samantha’s favorite things to do is spend time with family, which includes being with her grandparents eating ice cream and going to church. Samantha is a strong believer in faith and leans on it through every aspect of her life, much like Johnson in real life.

“I pray. It means a lot to me,” said Johnson. “It’s helpful.”

She’s been an usher at her church since the age of three.

“God will just help me,” she said.

It took a lot of determination and willpower for Johnson to start and finish her book. Johnson didn’t realize how much time would have to be put into this book, but she’s learned and is already working on her second one.

She’s also learned “not to be afraid about writing and putting it out there.”

Even at a young age, Samantha knows what she wants and that’s to be a famous singer like Kirk Franklin or Mary Mary.

“Samantha will not let anyone stop her from reaching her dream. In her dream she sees the letters D-R-E-A-M B-I-G and that’s what she does,” Johnson wrote. "…Samantha realizes that if she believes in herself, she can be all that she wants to be.”

Johnson began writing this book back in Summer of 2019 and hopes to encourage kids “to not be afraid of things.”

“Go ahead and do it,” Johnson said.

10 Days With Samantha was released on Dec. 20, 2019 and can be purchased at Amazon.
